Since 1884, as “Carinthian State Museum”, one of the most beautiful historical buildings in Klagenfurt, since 2022 as “carinthia.museum”, one of the most modern museums in Austria – now a Carinthian all-round museum has chosen as the guideline for its narrative the changing environment, ideas and culture: from the skull of the “Lindwurm” to a mosaic of Dionysos, from the relief of the Großglockner to the “Seven Shepherd Sword”, from the earliest trace of human settlement up to the Anthropocene Age. And so the expedition through the history of land and culture as well as the natural environs of Carinthia, graphic and pointed, becomes an experience.
